This Christmas decorate your home with an ornament made from wool taken from actual Bethlehem sheep! This playful scene is made of wool-felting from sheep in the Bethlehem region. It is made by the Ma’al lil-Hayat community which brings together people with and without intellectual disabilities who share life together through work and mutual relationships of friendship and trust. By purchasing this item you are supporting marginalized communities in Bethlehem. MADE IN THE HOLY LAND.
Founded in July 2009, as a local branch of the International Federation of L’Arche Communities, Ma’an lil-Hayat (Together for Life) seeks to affirm and empower people with intellectual disabilities in their claim to adulthood. The Ma’an lil-Hayat community project in Bethlehem is based on the production of wool-felt objects by persons with intellectual disabilities. Members of Ma’an lil-Hayat make ornaments, nativity sets, and other gift items from the wool of Bethlehem sheep. L’Arche believes that meaningful, challenging work encourages a sense of personal responsibility and genuine participation in the building of civil society. By purchasing their products on this website you are supporting the maintenance and ministry of the Garden Tomb and also empowering marginalized communities in Bethlehem.
